Problem-Solving

As a coach, or a help professional, I assure you that when I talk with clients or patients, the subject is that of problems and solutions. Many of these problems are overweight problems.

One day, a client confessed to me: "I am very unhappy, I have many problems”! And without blinking an eye, I immediately replied: "Well you don’t!" Imagine the look on his face. I won’t forget it for as long as I live, but I assure you that the minutes that followed had changed his life forever. We had a profound conversation. I will always thank him.

It may seem like a joke but it’s radically true. It is not surprising how humans have the tremendous ability to create and collect problems – different sizes, different types requiring different solutions. It’s as if problems have a life of their own and come to us from the world we observe and live in.

There is nothing out there that resembles a problem; there are only facts.

Isn’t it extremely suspicious that whenever someone has a problem, he figures in the problem (that is, he’s in the problem?) Doesn’t an accomplice need more than a casual victim? Suspicions, suspicions.

The world seems to have many problems of different sizes, difficulties, causes, and effects but all problems are reduced to one thing: fear. People are victims of their own fear. Beneath this perception, when one problem appears to be resolved, another one comes up, so people never stop facing one problem after another.

The world is not full of problems, only in the minds of people do problems exist!

Other times, the problem disappears, only to reappear a little later. It seems that every problem requires a “distinct” solution – whether it’s a different or special solution. The problems seem to take on endless variations that make people believe they are different. Isn’t that frustrating? No wonder people think that life is difficult. With this view, life is very, very difficult. You bet it is.

There are no problems, there are only solutions that we do not like.

My clients often ask me for a solution to a situation. Sometimes I warn them that I can think of a solution, but perhaps it wouldn’t be to their liking because it would require a high price, a profound change, and they may be more uncomfortable with it than continuing to endure the problem ...

Some clients say that their case is special and unique. I've heard this many times before. You may not believe it, but human problems are extremely repetitive, as if they were photocopied. They are boring for their lack of originality. Sorry to be so radical about this but the sooner you accept this before you are ready to help others, the more effective you can be.

I would like to tell the client that he has no problems, or at least he believes to have them. But I know that if they don’t accept it, I would get up and go to a place where I would have more faith in their so-called problems.
